The Machine Intelligence Continuum

Machine intelligence continuum will help readers understand the different types of machine intelligence.

7 Levels

1. Systems that act

These are systems that function according to some predefined script, often by following manually programmed if-then type of rules.

2. Systems that predict

Capable of analyzing data and using it to produce probabilistic predictions.

3. Systems that learn

This also make predictions, but they require less hand-engineering and can learn to perform tasks without being explicitly programmed to do so.

4. Systems that create

Computers that are able to create content, art or anything from having images or a baseline.

5. Systems that relate

Sentiment analysis, also known as opinion mining or emotion is when AI extracts and quantifies emotional states from our texts, voice, facial expressions and body language.

6. Systems that master

An intelligent agent capable of constructing abstract concepts and strategic plans from sparse data.

7. Systems that evolve

Exhibit superhuman intelligence and capabilities.
